Helen Darsie (The pioneer Friend of ECA)
Helen Darsie is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where she met Martha Neba- Mbandi., Helen has participated in two short-term mission trips to Vietnam and Haiti and she said “that really captured my heart for missions and the various ways that Christians could obey Christ's Great Commission at the end of Matthew's Gospel.” Helen is preparing for missionary service at the U.S. Center for World Mission in Pasadena, CA, and her assignment is to work in the archives of two prominent 20th century missionaries.Helen said she became a friend of ECA because “Africa is a continent that has captured my attention ever since I was very young, and I have a great interest in the continent's history, peoples and cultures. I aspire to be a missionary there someday amongst tribal peoples. Also, I have found Martha's passion for the establishment of ECA ever since I got to know her, to be so encouraging and contagious. She truly senses God's call for her to give back to her homeland and I admire her greatly and wish to offer my continuous support however I can. The less fortunate people of Cameroon really need folks to commit to making a difference in their lives, and God has blessed us in the West in order to be a blessing to those who have not experienced His love in their lives. Will we be ambassadors for Christ and give of ourselves and our resources to the ECA and by so doing proclaim the glory of God and the name of Christ in Cameroon in life-changing ways? I pray so and I am thankful to God for the opportunity to be a small part of His ministry through Martha and her board's efforts to reach out to Cameroonians in this generation.”
